Rightsizing Retail Commercial Designations

Retail needs are evolving and there are certain sites that may no longer be appropriate for the extent of retail commercial uses that they were previously planned for.  Our client had purchased a large scale retail commercial property on Mayfield Road in Brampton.  The planning permissions did not allow for residential development.  The client was proposing the development of townhomes on the majority of the site and a decrease in the retail commercial component.  Tate Research was retained to analyse the impacts on the local community, from a retail planning perspective, of the proposed changes.  The Tate report was peer reviewed and the development application was approved by the City.
